Official PokéTown Rules

1. User Accounts

1.1. You are not allowed to make duplicate accounts without permission. If you are given permission by a member of staff with a valid reason, you may be allowed to make another account. This rule is in place because it is an easy way to avoid warnings, and multiple accounts can be used to harass other members, more commonly known as spam

1.2. Passwords must always be kept private. PokeTown staff will never ask you for your password. If staff ask you for your password, or someone imitates a staff member asking for your password, report it immediately.

1.3. Do not imitate other members. Whether this be as a joke, or a more serious matter, this should not happen. Imitating other members by creating an account similar to their real one can cause havoc.

1.4. Any information registered on PokeTown, such as E-Mail addresses, will never be shared, used, or sold.

1.5. Your username, your title, or any other details may not have offensive content in them. Such accounts with offensive usernames will be automatically banned.

2. Use of Forums

2.1. You must always respect the other members. You have to remember these are real people. If there are any problems with another members report it to the staff team.

2.2. Any threat against PokeTown, or accusations without proof, will result in a permanent ban.

2.3. Something we are very strict on is advertising outside of its designated areas. The only places you are allowed to advertise is the website forum and your signature. You may not advertise in your blog, or the Shoutbox.

2.4. You must read all the board rules. This includes the main forum rules, and the rules for each individual forum. No excuses, such as, “I didn’t know.” When rules are changed, everyone will be informed.

2.5. Do not post pointless messages (more commonly referred to as spam). Messages like these are annoying, and messages with excessive characters takes up a lot of board space, and will be removed immediately.

2.5.1 Do not use an excessive amount of smilies. These are available to make posts more fun to read, however this can become annoying when over-used.

2.5.2 The over-useof acronyms such as “lol” and “rofl” is not welcomed. This will only be warned when purposely trying to annoy someone.

2.5.3. Double posting is not allowed on PokeTown. Double posting is only allowed when updating your writing, art, or blog.

2.6. Swearing is not allowed on PokeTown. Most swear words are filtered, and therefore cannot be posted, however, you must not hide swear words, by replacing the letters with symbols. Swear words can be starred, but these words must not be directed at another individual.

2.7. The use of racist, sectarian, or offensive remarks intended to purposely hurt someone’s feelings, will result in a permanent bad.

2.8. You may not post adult content on PokeTown. This includes pornography, any branches of porn, links to adult websites, and content such as gambling, smoking, and alcohol.

2.9. You may not discuss illegal content on PokeTown. This includes drugs, crime, and serious, explicate news articles. This also includes, but isn’t limited to ROMs

2.10. This is an English speaking board. If you must speak another language, request a foreign forum, which can be provided by one of the admins.

2.11. Avoiding the filters will be punished with a warning.

3. Shoutbox

3.1. The Shoutbox is live. This means as soon as you post a message it will be displayed on all parts of the PokeTown website. Think before you shout on the Shoutbox, as it can be displayed by anyone.

3.2. Do not advertise on the Shoutbox. Advertising in annoying to the admins, and the staff running the board. It is quite insulting to our staff when the board is abused.

3.3. All forum rules apply on the Shoutbox, except rule 2.5.3.

4. Blogs

4.1. You are responsible for all content posted in your blog. This does not include other users’ comments.

4.2.When posting mature content in your blog, you must give an age certificate (13+). When posting content with an age limit, you must start your topic 1 page down. Check an example here

4.3. You may not advertise or promote your site in your blog. This will be classified as advertising.

4.3.1. You may however promote any bux sites, or money making sites. This is on the condition that you accept all responsibility for other users’ complaints, if any.

4.4. Any personal content posted in your blog is your responsibility. Your blog can be viewed by anyone, even people not registered on PokeTown.

4.5. If you do not want other users to comment on your blog, please let a member of staff know; thus only you can post topics in your blog.

5. Other general rules

5.1. You may not ask for staff positions, or give any implications. Staff positions are given out to people chosen by the staff.

5.2. You may not campaign when members of staff or dropped, or when a member is banned or suspended. Campaigning for such things will result in your own suspension.

5.3. You must always respect the staff’s decisions. If you are unhappy about the staff’s position, report it to the head moderator Keith, or if it is a more serious matter, report it straight to one of the admins.

5.4. When uploading to our gallery, you must upload your own work, unless you state otherwise. You may upload any images, related to the board or not. You may not upload adult content, though.

5.4.1 We have the right to remove your gallery at any time, if we feel you are abusing the feature, or you break one of the rules.

5.4.2. We also have the right to remove any of the images uploaded at any time, if we feel that it may offend any user, or if the image is inappropriate.

6. Legal Information and summary

6.1. We have the right to warn, suspend or ban you if you break any of the rules, but are not limited to them.

6.2. Any content on PokeTown is original content, unless stated otherwise. Any content that is not ours will have the appropriate credits given.

6.2.1. All of the arcade games are taken from IPB game providers. We do not own these games, and did not participate it making the games.

6.2.2. All of the content on PokeTown (Other than user submitted work) is protected by copyright, and appropriate actions will be taken if work is stolen, re-used or re-published.

6.3. We ensure if all of these rules are followed accordingly, there should not be any friction between members and staff. We are a friendly, welcoming community that is always happy to see new members. Whenever members are co-operative, caring, and rule-abiding we make sure that their experience on PokeTown is the best they can get. All members of staff are friendly, and are always willing to help you if you have any problems. You must also realize if someone is giving you trouble, you must report it to a member of staff and not take it into your own hands. We sympathise with members who are having trouble from other users, but we do not sympathise with members who take matters into their own hands. All personal messages sent to other users can be viewed by Root Admin(s) which will be used as proof for another users’ case.
